Most of us already live in a smart world with our use of smartphones, the internet and so on. But the Internet of Things is happening and its pace of change may be quicker than we expect.
The level of knowledge of the various applications varies considerably. Within this, knowledge is disproportionately focused on the young, urban, tech savvy population. The potential of Internet of Things is stifled by lack of knowledge beyond this core.
While many appreciate the benefits of a smarter/Internet of Things way of living, there are serious barriers to overcome. Some of which are simpler, such as demonstrating worth and that it will indeed work. Some are more fundamental, such as concerns over privacy. Even early adopters who embrace a smarter future have such real concerns.
